We Do Not Need Copycats

Why freedom, curiosity, and exploration matter in Jiu-Jitsu and in life.

I never hated hard work.

What frustrated me was feeling disconnected from the direction I was moving in.

I could train hard for hours in Jiu-Jitsu without feeling drained. But in other environments, even small tasks sometimes felt mentally exhausting.

For a long time, I did not fully understand why.

I kept chasing jobs, opportunities, and directions that looked correct from the outside, but internally something always felt off.

And because of that, I often felt judged.

Not necessarily directly, but through the expectations society quietly places on people.

Study this.
Work there.
Follow this path.
Have certainty.
Have a clear answer for everything.

If your path looks uncertain, people quickly assume you are lost.

But over time, I realized something important:

I was never afraid of effort.

What I was really afraid of was fully investing myself into something that did not feel meaningful to me.

I think many people experience the same thing.

Most people are capable of working incredibly hard when they feel connected to what they are doing.

The problem starts when people feel trapped inside systems, jobs, or expectations that leave no room for exploration, curiosity, or individuality.

That is probably one of the reasons I connected so deeply with Jiu-Jitsu.

The sport gave me freedom.
